Addressing Habesha Health Disparities One Conversation At A Time
Mission
Habesha Health’s mission is to improve health awareness and access for Habesha communities around the world. We provide culturally relevant health education, resources, and conversations that help our community feel informed, empowered, and confident in managing their health.
Vision
We envision a future where every Habesha individual has access to trusted health information, culturally competent care, and the confidence to advocate for their health and the health of their families.
About
Habesha Health is a virtual health education platform created to address health disparities within the Habesha community.
Habesha Health first began as the Habesha Women’s Health Expo, an in-person health symposium held in San Francisco. The event was created by Habesha women in the community who recognized that many women felt shy, uncomfortable, or afraid when speaking with healthcare providers due to cultural and language barriers.
After several years, Habesha Health was relaunched as a virtual platform in August 2020, to make health education more accessible to Habesha communities everywhere.
Today, Habesha Health brings together healthcare professionals, community members, and health advocates to share trusted information and create conversations around topics that impact our community.
